Gristle Fern

Blechnum cartilagineum

The Gristle Fern is primarily found in rainforest areas. It can tolerate dry conditions once established in a shady area.

This fern is rhizomic which produces the roots and shoots of a new plant.

Gristle Ferns are ground dwelling. New growth is a pink to reddish colour. The broad and feathery mature fronds become a pale green and are covered with black scales.
