Blue Triangle butterflies like lowland forests but can also be found in suburban areas as they have adapted to the introduced species of camphor laurel as a host plant.

The wings are triangular containing a central blue triangular area bordered by dark brown.

The Blue-Triangle butterfly feeds on many native species of plants and the introduced camphor laurel.

The vision of this butterfly is exceptional, and they can perceive ultraviolet and polarised light. It is believed males attract females using tiny hairs on their abdomen.
